Specification Consultant - Seattle, WA

Under direction of the Business Product Manager, you will secure specifications from the professional design community. Promote and sell products to a variety of decision-makers, such as architects, designers, home-builders, kitchen dealers and corporate specifiers. Develop relationships within the design community that broaden corporate understanding of the needs and direction of the industry and allow for continued market penetration. Perform other tasks as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with customers and act as a liaison between the field, and corporate teams to drive sales, coordinate marketing activities, resolve conflict, and identify opportunities that influence the success of Wurth Louis and Company.
  • Provide design, product and application information pertinent to individual accounts.
  • Interact with sales representatives, branch and regional managers, and supplier personnel to maximize results.
  • Link designers and planners to industry fabricators where appropriate, and create opportunities for exclusive specifications.
  • Provide feedback to internal customers regarding the surfacing needs of the design community.
  • Participate in industry related associations.


  • Thorough understanding of the Specification Selling and Project Tracking Process.
  • Familiarity with Distribution Sales channel.
  • Advanced sales negotiation skills.
  • Clearly able to communicate past ability to affect, lead, and sponsor profitable specification growth through market channels on a consistent basis.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Utilization of Sales Force as Customer Relationship Management tool.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Twenty percent (20%) overnight travel required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of four (4) years commensurate experience.
  • One (1) year of Field Sales experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs. of material, finger dexterity for activities such as data entry and calculator use, grasping, repetitive motions, speaking, hearing, visual acuity, and mobility between locations. Use of both hands is required.
